Feasibility study guides Alaska utility toward carbon reduction goals

Many factors are accounted for to make energy infrastructure decisions. In Interior Alaska, Fairbanks's Golden Valley Electric Association sought the analysis and expertise of the Alaska Microgrid Group and the Alaska Center for Energy and Power.

The study provided an options analysis of current as well as alternative generation. AMG's Brian Rogers partnered with ACEP to complete the report after soliciting comments from GVEA member owners.

On January 21, 2019, the GVEA Board of Directors adopted an official Carbon Reduction Goal to reduce GVEA's carbon output by 26 percent by the year 2030.
